A statue of Emmeline Pankhurst greets visitors to the gardens at the side of Westminster. A bench next to it was donated by someone’s family in 1979. The plinth where figurines by Rodin usually perch stands empty; the statue is on loan to a Henry Moore exhibition in the north.

#11 Weymouth and Milton Abbas
Weymouth on a Sunday morning is peaceful and still; the street cleaning machines left at 8am; the wild shrieks from Rendezvous died in the early hours. “It’s a ghost town,” says one of the shop owners. We pass through maritime streets and into Hope Square. All the pubs and houses connect to the sea: Brewers Quay, the Excise House, Coastguard Cottages. “We used to come here on New Year’s Eve,” says my friend.

I’m a writer with a passion for photography and travel.
Having recently relocated, I’d like to share experiences of exploration and the relationship between Literature and travel. I’m particularly interested in narrative non-fiction and I hope that each of my descriptions is like a map of a journey through a place.
My aim is to visit one hundred ‘random’ and interesting locations in the next year. I always welcome suggestions for where to blog about next! Or can you think of any famous locations I could visit at an unusual time of year?
